We first became aware of AMP Electric Vehicles when it produced a fully electrified version of the late Saturn Sky roadster a couple of years ago. With the demise of the Saturn brand, AMP shifted its focus to the Chevrolet Equinox and is now trying to build out its business to convert and sell electric vehicles (it was just eliminated from the Automotive X-Prize).

As part of that effort, AMP has hired retired General Motors executive John Gatt as a consultant. Gatt spent 34 years at GM, most recently with the Hummer brand as director of IT development and implementation for the global sales, after-sales and marketing efforts. AMP currently offers conversions to older Sky and Pontiac Solstice roadsters and is expected to start deliveries of the converted Equinox later this year.
